Samarth College, run by Rashtriya Shikshan Sanstha, was established in 1964. The work of teaching Marathi and Marathi literary studies has been going on since the establishment of the college. Marathi Subject Graduate B.A., B.Com., B.Sc. as well as Post Graduate M.A. (Marathi) is taught to these classes.

Through the Marathi department, an attempt is made to inculcate the knowledge of literature and dialect among the students. Various competitions like essay, reading, speech, poetry singing, poetry writing, song singing are organized through the department. Also, various programs are organized on behalf of the department throughout the year, in which programs like Marathi Raj Bhasha Day and Kavivarya Kusumagraj Jayanti, Marathi Language Conservation Fortnight, Kavi Samelan are organized on February 27.
